Ironically, my grandfather and father were executives with the Singer Sewing Machine Company, in Elizabeth a long time ago. As a teenager, I worked there during the summer months. So I guess it was in my blood.

My name is Bill McNamara, commonly known as Sgt. Mac. I actually retired as a Lieutenant from the Woodbridge Police Department in April of 2011 and as everyone knows the Sergeant is the working man in the Department. My career started in 1982 when I became a Correction Officer at Rahway State Prison. in 1982 until I was hired by The East Windsor Police Department in 1983.
Then it happened, my hometown Woodbridge called and said my number was up and would I be interested in taking the position? Growing up as a Woodbridge Kid, who attended and graduated from Woodbridge High School it was a no brainer. In August of 1985, I was hired and spent time in patrol, the Detective Bureau and attained the rank of Sergeant and then Lieutenant.
During my career I was actively involved in fundraising for the American Cancer Society and ran benefit programs as Cops against Cancer. These programs were highly successful and raised a lot of money for Cancer research and benefitted citizens of the Woodbridge Community.
